Boxed Set Combination Telescope/Microscope.
A very rare, and beautiful mid 19th century combination microscope/telescope by J. Salmon.
This instrument comes in a nice case with two extra lenses and seven Victorian microscope slides.
It has the original lacquering in superior shape as seen in the photos (there are a few minor
scuffs/scratches which do not detract from the appearance). The original round paper label inside
the box reads "J. Salmon, Optician, 25, Seymour St., Euston Square, London". The name J. Salmon is
recognized by the Royal Society of Opticians from the period 1855-1865. The paper labeled slides
have the following descriptions. Scale of Dace, Walnut, Scales Hawk Moth, Zoophyte
Serialaria,
Hair Wolf, Birch, Moss. These fine Victorian era slides and this exceptional instrument will
make a welcome addition to any serious collection.
Antique Microscope Lamp
English, late 19th century, unsigned. This lamp is missing its original ceramic chimney cover
but is in good condition otherwise. The chimney cover has been replaced with a metal sleeve.
Microscope Slide Applicator Bottle.
This is an old microscope slide applicator bottle with a wire applicator. This was used to coat
the microscope slide and seal it. The glass bottle consists of a main body and a brown lift out
section that houses the wire applicator. The bottle measures 4 inches high and has a maximum
diameter of 2 inches. On the cap of the lid is stamped the following maker's
mark "REICHERT AUSTRIA".
This bottle is in excellent original condition with no damage.
