
Philadelphia Museum Silk Specimen
According to the original paper label attached to the jar, this complete pint size SIMPLEX
fruit jar contains Tussah Silk Thread, a twisted form of raw silk of wild oak feeding silk
worms. The jar and the write up came from the Philadelphia Museum. The Simplex jar lid has 2
nicks under the cover rim, otherwise the jar and contents are in good, old condition, and
measure 5" tall x 2 1/2" dia.

Pearl in the Shell Specimen
This opened saltwater pearl shell is in a decorative display. It still contains the natural salt
water pearl in the position that is was formed in. The display is 6 1/2 inches long. This is not
antique but would compliment a natural science collection.
