Telescope Microscope Boxed Set Combination Telescope/Microscope.
A very rare, and beautiful mid 19th century combination microscope/telescope by J. Salmon. This instrument comes in a nice case with two extra lenses and seven Victorian microscope slides. It has the original lacquering in superior shape as seen in the photos (there are a few minor scuffs/scratches which do not detract from the appearance). The original round paper label inside the box reads "J. Salmon, Optician, 25, Seymour St., Euston Square, London". The name J. Salmon is recognized by the Royal Society of Opticians from the period 1855-1865. The paper labeled slides have the following descriptions. Scale of Dace, Walnut, Scales Hawk Moth, Zoophyte Serialaria, Hair Wolf, Birch, Moss. These fine Victorian era slides and this exceptional instrument will make a welcome addition to any serious collection.
